Set in Lithuania in 1897, this historical romance is the tale of a young woman conflicted by Jewish traditions and a need for her own identity. She meets Eli, a young Jewish flute player, running away from Russian conscription. Dr. Orenstein wrote her first poem at age eight and has never stopped writing. She has been a teacher, a magazine editor/writer, rehab counselor, managed programs for women and children and served as an officer with Ameri-Corps.
