The Covenant is a major current of the Hebrew Bible and provides the very foundation for Judaism and bond with the Land of Israel for all eternity. This course explores the origin and meaning of the Covenant from the cultural environment of the ancient Near East, and provides a detailed description of its role in the Bible and in Classical Judaism. Why this sliver of land along the Mediterranean? We will examine the roots of this covenant and the impact on Jewish life through the ages.
