The Jefferson Dynasty: Thomas Jefferson to Andrew Jackson… The History of Political Polarization of American Politics

  • Ina Levine Jewish Community Campus 12701 North Scottsdale Road Scottsdale, AZ, 85254 United States (map)

The vision of the founders was a constitution that would create a federal  government responsible for governing the country through a process of checks and balances and a balance of state and federal powers. The founders did not foresee or desire or anticipate political parties...but from the very   beginning, there was development of political parties, and the polarization of politics and the philosophy and the role of government. This class will explore and define the emergence of parties and the impact of polarization on  American history beginning with Jefferson and Hamilton...and on several  other occasions during our 240 years as a country. Today is not new...
