This class is designed to introduce (or re-introduce) the Yiddish language to eager nostalgic participants. It is designed for those who recall some vocabulary from a time in the past when relatives and/or friends spoke Yiddish or for those who have spoken the language in the past. This will NOT include reading/writing in Yiddish (only transliterations).
Yiddish songs, lyrics, poems, proverbs, sayings, & juicy curse words will be used to teach vocabulary and sentence structure. Total beginners with no prior Yiddish familiarity might struggle but will definitely learn. Those who feel very fluent in the language might not feel a great sense of improvement but will certainly enjoy the camaraderie, the nostalgia and will offer their expertise and accents to the experience for all.
Mondays beginning January 17 through March 7 from 10:00am - 11:00am [Please note: January 17 class will be held on Zoom]
Cost: $130
